SAP announced today the appointment of Darren Rushworth as their managing director (MD), effective March 27, this year. He will oversee the sales efforts and operations of SAP Philippines and the Emerging Markets that include Vietnam, Pakistan, Cambodia and Laos among others.
Rushworth has been in the information technology industry for over 25 years, the passed 16 based in Asia. He is experienced in doing business in the country and has been involved in initiatives such as sitting on the Philippine IT Advisory Board under former President Fidel Ramos, and promoting private-public partnerships through academic programs across the nation.
“I am excited to be part of SAP Southeast Asia as the region is poised to grow further. We are also confident that we can meet this year’s targets and effectively address the company’s four points, namely technology, SME solutions, ecosystems and cloud computing,” said Rushworth.
The company aims to work more closely with the SMEs by providing them products and packages specific to their needs. He further clarified that the company is investing on developing business solutions for their customers. “If businesses don’t innovate, you are not going to succeed,” he stressed.
Rushworth explained that SAP is investing heavily on cloud computing as it is the next generational transformation in the IT industry
On the other hand, Jennifer Ligones will assume the position of Country Head for Software Business of SAP Philippines. She will be responsible in executing its over-all-go-to-market strategies for various industries and line-of-business solutions. Ligones is a seasoned SAP veteran, having been with the company since 1998.
Ligones also stressed their efforts in building partnership with the academe through SAP’s University Alliance Program which includes structured programs that will eventually help the business community as well as the students with jobs after their graduation. They are hoping to tap universities in the country with the aim of greater productivity and business continuity.
The “dynamic duo” of Rushwoth and Ligones aims to bring forth customer innovation for the rest of 2012 and the coming years by investing more on people, running the business better and utilizing their combined backgrounds on technology to help the market locally.
