Physical music sales beats digital download revenue in 2017

According to a revenue statistics report from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), physical music sales surpassed digital music download revenue by a $200 million margin.

The digital download revenue dropped 25 percent to $1.3 billion during 2017 compared to the physical media revenue who dropped only 4 percent to $1.5 billion.

According to RIAA, music streaming platform revenue accounted for a shocking 65 percent of the industry’s total revenue during 2017 coming in at a total of $5.7 billion.

Music services like Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited and Spotify seem to be the top of the music industry at the moment.
