Even before Snapchat, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger came to life, there is one messaging app that is considered king when it comes to messaging – AOL Instant Messaging (AIM).
Unfortunately the day has come to an end for AIM. AOL announced that it will kill the messaging app December 16, 2017 (Saturday) .
AIM tapped into new digital technologies and ignited a cultural shift, but the way in which we communicate with each other has profoundly changed. As a result, we’ve made the decision that we will be discontinuing AIM,” wrote Michael Albers, Oath VP of Communications Product.
For users who are using .aim.com email will still continue to receive and send emails.
