Facebook and LinkedIn recently announce their collaboration to empower women studying technology-related courses. This initiative aims to fill thousands of lucrative jobs in Silicon Valley that are used to be dominated by men.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and LinkedIn CEO Jeffrey Weiner share their insights with the collaboration. They said that they will launch mentoring and support programs at colleges to encourage more women involved interested in studying technology-related courses.
The financial commitment of Facebook and LinkedIn was not disclosed but the executives said that their investment is more focused on peer groups and the mentoring process. They also hope that it will grow globally with groups in public and private universities.
