Instagram is reportedly removing its “Following” tab which can be found in the Activity feed where users could view the recent activities of the people they follow such as likes, comments, and the accounts they just followed.
According to a report by Buzzfeed News, Instagram is removing the tab saying that the feature was not used frequently and that many users are suspected to be unaware of it.
Vishal Shah, Instagram’s head of product said: “People didn’t always know that their activity is surfacing. So you have a case where it’s not serving the use case you built it for, but it’s also causing people to be surprised when their activity is showing up.”
“Simplicity was the driving factor,” Shah added as she talekd about Instagram’s decision to remove the feature.
Just last week, Instagram launched ‘Threads,’ standalone messaging app where users could instantly send photos, videos, and messages to the people included on their close friends list.
In Instagram’s blog, it mentioned how Threads offer a new platform for users’ conversations with their circle of friends which will appear in both the standalone messaging app and Instagram’s Direct.
