Google warned its Google Docs users that a major phishing scam is going around targetting Gmail users. Users will be receiving an email inviting them to share a Google Doc.
If the user click on the link, it will lead the user to what appears to go to a real Google page asking if they wish to allow widespread permission, which if granted gives the fraudsters full access to the account.
On Twitter, Gmail posted the following advisory:
“We are investigating a phishing email that appears as Google Docs. We encourage you to not click through & report as phishing within Gmail.”
