Google Maps now lets users book an Uber ride without leaving the app

Google on Thursday (January 12, 2017) announced new updates for the Google Maps, which include better integration with ride-hailing service Uber.

In a blog post, Google said that Google Maps users can now hail an Uber ride even without leaving the app. As part of the update, users will now see a map that indicates which cars are within their area once they access ride services mode. Tapping on a preferred provider will give them a complete list of ride options and special offers.

Google notes that users can book an Uber ride even if they don’t have the Uber app on their device. They just need to have an existing Uber account.

Google said that new Google Maps update is now rolling out globally to both Android and iOS.
