Spotify may soon insert ‘sponsored songs’ on user playlists

Spotify is reportedly going to add ‘sponsored songs’ to user’s playlists, in effect allowing labels to pay to put songs into user’s playlists. The ‘sponsored songs’ is being tested by the company and if successful, Spotify will officially roll-out the service.

In a report by TechCrunch, the ‘sponsored songs’ would only appear to users on the free tier. In as far as charging labels, it is still not sure whether it will be on a per impression, action, listen or otherwise.
