The International Business Group of Globe Telecom has entered a partnership with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) to support the Visit the Philippines 2015 campaign. The telecom giant is the first Philippine telco partner to offer affordable communication services to millions of tourists and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) flying in the country.
“We are happy to be the first telco partner of the Tourism Promotions Board in their thrust to make the Philippines the ultimate destination hub for tourists worldwide. Offering free SIMs is our way of helping travellers further enjoy their stay by enabling easy, affordable and hassle-free communications,” shares Rizza Maniego-Eala, Globe SVP for International Business.
With the partnership, Globe will offer a Traveler SIM for free. This is a local prepaid SIM card that offers local rates for calls, texts, and mobile data services. Tourists and OFWs can claim their free SIM by simply presenting their non-Philippine passport, foreign resident card, Seaman’s book, or OFW e-card at any Glove booths located at NAIA, Davao, Kalibo, Iloilo and Clark International Airport starting July 30, 2015.
The Globe Traveler SIM also gives tourist the option to subscribe to TravelSurf to receive calls and texts from abroad for free and cut costs on their mobile data. They can also surf the Internet using their mobile devices for as low as US$11 for 7 days or US$23 for 30 days. For international calls, tourists can enjoy the low rate of US$0.40 per minute.
“Visit the Philippines Year 2015 aims to excite and encourage local and international visitors to actively participate in the year-long calendar of tourism activities that we have in the pipeline. By working with Globe, we are optimistic that more tourists in the Philippines will enjoy seamless connectivity to share wonderful moments to their friends and families anywhere around the world,” said Domingo Ramon C. Enerio III, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Promotions Board.
This is just the first program under Globe and TPB’s partnership. Expect more promos and programs in the future and be part of this campaign to promote our country across the world.
