When every single text message and every single second counts, it is very important to have a reliable, dependable and fast internet connection.
And if you happen to earn your living using mobile apps, then it is a must to have connectivity anytime of the day, and anywhere you may be.
For Sigfried Ragay, a Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) app driver and a Globe user for several years, much of his days rely on the messages he receives from potential passengers. So for him, to fill his quota and earn a few more pesos, Ragay needs to have his internet connection on the fly.
Ragay was thankful that his location, Quezon City, was among the 16 cities in Metro Manila that welcomed the installation of new towers and the upgrading of sites from the obsolete 2G and 3G to 4G/LTE technology. Benefitting from Globe’s aggressive network expansion, Quezon City welcomed the implementation of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act that expedited the processing of permits to build telco infrastructure.
Ragay found a way to make the most out of these new installations in Quezon City while making his daily routes.
“Pag may nakita na po akong cellsite, doon na po ako banda pumupwesto, para mabilis po signal ko. Simula nung nagkaroon ng ganyan (cellsite) mabilis na din po ang gamit, (To ensure I have better signal, I make sure I stay near these newly built cellsites. These new cellsites ensure I have faster service experience,” Ragay explained.
Not only is he able to book several passengers in a day, he can likewise message his customers right away, which in his line of work is very important to build trust and confidence with his employers and most especially, his passengers.
Quezon City has gained so much in Globe’s expansion builds this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the cities in the National Capital Region, Quezon City had the most installations with 99 new cell towers improving customer experience in more barangays.
In areas wherein, building new cell sites is not possible, Globe has expanded its coverage by making a total of 917 site upgrades from January to November this year.
These network rollouts and site modernization have resulted in better mobile and data experience for Globe customers in the city. For Ragay, better connectivity and better signal means more business and opportunities for him to earn for his family.
“Our installations are not always for our customers who work from home, study online and transact their business through the internet. The expansion of our network coverage also aims to benefit those who earn their keep while moving from one location to another. By ensuring that they remain connected and updated, they will thrive amid the pandemic where opportunities are limited due to several factors,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.
