Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Apple’s iPhone 8, two of the most anticipated upcoming smartphones this year, will have the highest rating of water and dust resistance, said a report from The Korea Herald.
Sources told the Korean publication that both the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 will feature IP68 rating, which means that the two flagship phones can handle submersion for 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water.
While Samsung has already used IP68 rating on its previous phones, Apple is said to be upgrading the iPhone 8 to IP68 as part of the expected drastic changes to the next iPhone. It should be noted that Apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of iPhone this year.
Meanwhile, sources said that Samsung is considering to include water protection even for the cheapest J series smartphones.
