Chinese tech giant Huawei is reportedly working on the world’s first ever first 5G television featuring an ultrahigh-definition 8K resolution.
According to a report published by Nikkei, Huawei is planning to introduce its first set equipped with 5G module which can let users and owners download data-heavy content such as virtual reality programs and 360 degree videos.
The 5G-equipped television could act as router for other devices inside the home while the 8K resolution could offer 16 times more pixels than the standard 1080 pixel high-definition.
Huawei’s efforts in developing its 5G television is part of the company’s desire to be the top brand in electronics through building its “ecosystem” which includes smartphones, wearables, as well as home devices.
