Hard drive maker Seagate Technologies is facing a class action lawsuit allegedly due to high failure rates of their 3TB external and internal hard disk drives leaving consumers with broken hardware and significant loss of data.
The lawsuit specifically relates to Seagate’s 3TB hard drive models: the Barracuda 3TB Hard Disk Drive, or the Backup Plus 3TB External Hard Disk Drive.
Furthermore, the lawsuit indicate that the incident is a breach of consumer protection, unfair competition and false advertising as well as unjust enrichment.
In a statement mailed to USA TODAY, Seagate said it “has received a copy of the complaint but has not yet been served. Seagate is reviewing the complaint and will respond to it in due course.”
