University of San Carlos Turns to IBM to Strengthen Storage Infrastructure

IBM announced that the University of San Carlos (USC) is deploying IBM Storwize V5000 to optimize its administrative operations and academic data storage.

USC needed a robust, scalable, virtualized storage infrastructure to better manage fast data volume growth and to enable the higher performance required by academic services.

Storwize V5000 provides various departments of USC storage and access to large volumes of data quickly and easily. It simplifies management with industry-leading graphical user interface and uses IBM Easy Tier advanced technology for automatically migrating data between storage tiers based on real-time usage analysis patterns. The scalable storage solutions allows USC to provision storage only as needed yet allows easy expansion in performance and capacity as the organization grows,.

“To maintain our standing as one of the premiere higher learning institutions outside Manila, the university needs to continuously elevate the quality of our programs and services. The IBM solution enables us to effectively manage our storage resources so we could optimize our systems and provide better services to community,” said Fr. Generoso Ricardo B. Rebayla, Jr., SVD, MM, Vice President for Finance, University of San Carlos.

“Digitization of records is challenging how organizations like academic institutions manage the growth of data. The right choice of storage infrastructure enables optimized system performance and simplified administrative tasks while allowing efficient operations and providing financial benefits,” said Luis Pineda, President and Country General Manager, IBM Philippines.

USC’s adoption of IBM Storwize V5000 was coursed through Perfect Star PC Shoppe, a key IBM business partner in the Cebu City.
