Verizon is reportedly trying to sell Tumblr

Verizon Media Group is reportedly trying to look for buyers of the blogging site Tumblr after it banned pornographic content on its platform.

In a report by theverge.com, Verizon has approached potential companies that could be the new home for Tumblr which hosts 465.4 million blogs and 172 billion posts.

Meanwhile, Pornhub VP Corey Price reportedly stated that his company is ‘extremely interested’ in buying the platform.

Price told BuzzFeed News: “There are obvious synergies between the two brands and value Pornhub could derive from Tumblr. We’re extremely interested in acquiring the platform and are very much looking forward to one day restoring it to its former glory with NSFW content.”

It can be remembered that Tumblr started banning pornographic content on its platform last 2018 and has since used AI to detect and block images and videos that contain such.

Tumblr’s porn ban resulted in backlash from users and a decline in web traffic. However, the platform does not seem to be planning to change its decision.
