YouTube released a statement regarding the popular WhatsApp ‘game’ Momo challenge which has allegedly been threatening children to participate in tasks which can lead to self-harm.
On its Twitter account, YouTube denied seeing ‘evidence’ of videos promoting the Momo challenge, mentioning that videos “encouraging harmful and dangerous challenges” are against their policies.
YouTube said: “We want to clear something up regarding the Momo Challenge: We’ve seen no recent evidence of videos promoting the Momo Challenge on YouTube. Videos encouraging harmful and dangerous challenges are against our policies.”

YouTube then encouraged users to immediately report videos promoting harmful or dangerous challenges on the website.

The Momo challenge has been linked to the video streaming platform as it allegedly hacks kid-friendly content and games within the service.
