Seagate unveils industry-first 2TB Nytro XM1440 M.2 NVMe SSD

With an aim to push the boundaries in data capacity, Seagate Technology unveiled the new two terabyte (TB) version of its Nytro XM1440 M.2 non-volatile memory express (NVMe) Solid State Drive (SSD).

It is dubbed as the highest-capacity, enterprise-class M.2 NVMe SSD available today so it is suited for demanding enterprise applications that require quick data access, processing, and capacity.

The 2TB Nytro XM1440 M.2 NVMe SSD is devised to accelerate enterprise data access. Created to be effective on read-intensive and mixed workloads, its high capacity and small form factor are well suited for current cloud and enterprise data center environments, where processing power and speed are increasing in importance.

Some of the drive’s notable features are the end-to-end data protection; the RAISE technology which brings RAID-like data protection and recovery from disastrous flash memory failures; and an active power consumption of 7 watts that enables the drive to reach performance levels as high as 30,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) per watt.

The 2TB Nytro XM1440 M.2 NVMe SSD will become available in November 2016 via channel partners.
