91% Of Mothers Would Prefer To Receive An iPad Than Flowers For Mother’s Day

TechBargains.com, a leading deal aggregation website for electronic products, released its Mother’s Day survey results revealing a staggering 91% of mothers would prefer to receive an iPad over flowers for Mother’s Day, yet only 12% of people said they would give their mom a tech gadget for Mother’s Day with the highest percentage (27%) saying they would give flowers. The results indicated that respondents under 30 believe their moms are the most tech savvy. The survey also found that men believe their mothers are more tech savvy than women do. Additionally, the results revealed that the majority of people (59 %) will spend $50 or less on mom this year.

“The survey results indicate a significant shift in what mothers want as gifts,” said Yung Trang, President and Editor in Chief of TechBargains.com. “Flowers, candy and cards appear to be antiquated gifts. Today’s moms want to receive tech gifts to juggle their busy family and professional lives. The tablet is their gadget of choice.”

It’s the Thought That Counts
The survey revealed that although moms expect big gifts from their children their offspring aren’t planning on giving their mothers very much. 19% of respondents say they won’t get their mom anything, 26% will buy them flowers and only11% will get their mom a tech gadget. The gap between Moms’ wishes and their gift givers intentions are vast. Only 16% of moms said they didn’t want anything.

Gadgets, Gadgets, Gadgets
The survey found that of the 31% of moms who want a tech gadget, 51% want a tablet, 16% want an MP3 player, 14% want a laptop, 9% want an e-reader, 4% want a digital camera, 3% want an alternate gadget, 2% want a cell phone and 1% want a TV, a powerful indication of the growing tablet market. Of the moms who want tablets, 64% want an iPad and only 23% want a Kindle Fire, a strong indicator of Apple’s lead in the tablet market.
