Grom Holdings Inc., the privately-held parent company of Grom Social Inc., recently announced that they have bought and acquired Philippines-Based Top Draw Animation (TDA).
TDA is a Manila-based producer of high-quality animation and considered as one of the leading producers of 2D animation for TV markets around the world. They are currently doing service work for various properties like Hasbro’s My Little Pony and Warner Bros’ Tom and Jerry.
Meanwhile, Grom Social has been producing live-action short-form content since its launch in 2012, and the deal to acquire TDA will enable them to create in-house animated content.
The transaction allows both companies to benefit from the growing market for kids content in the U.S., and international stage.
TDA CEO Wayne Dearing will continue to lead TDA in its production of animated content while also taking on the role of Executive Vice President for Global Finance of Grom Social. Under his new role, Dearing will be reporting directly to Grom Social president Sander Schwartz.
