Continuing its long streak of recognitions from international industry stalwarts, Globe Telecom was adjudged Best Emerging Market Operator at the recently-concluded 18th Annual Telecom Asia Awards, the most prestigious and longest-running telecom awards in the region.
The leading Philippine telco service provider bagged the best performing fixed or wireless carrier in an emerging Asian market among other nominated operators in the continent, including India’s Bharti Airtel, Indonesia’s Telkomsel and XL Axiata, as well as its Philippine competitor in the same category. Globe was among 37 nominees from 12 Asia-Pacific markets that vied for best innovative and outstanding performers among Asian service providers and industry executives.
Globe President & CEO Ernest Cu said, “We are very pleased and grateful to the Annual Telecom Asia Awards for this accolade. Globe has emerged as the Philippines’ No. 1 mobile brand through its innovative spirit and consistent business performance. We will continue to provide Filipino consumers with game-changing products and services to enliven their Globe-powered digital lifestyle.”
The awarding ceremony was held on May 20 at the Ritz-Carlton in Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, Indonesia. The 6th Annual Telco Strategies Conference gathering coincided with the 25th anniversary of the emergence of the telecommunications industry in Asia under the theme, “Strategies for Thriving in the Age of Disruption.”
Globe joined the elite set of winners in 16 categories chosen from more than 100 fixed, mobile and convergence Asian telecom operators. Shortlisted candidates were nominated by readers, judges and editors of Telecom Asia, while an independent panel of industry experts performed their final selections based on innovation, financial performance, technology, market leadership, and corporate governance.
