Apple drops AirPort routers as it exits Wi-Fi business

Apple announced that it will be exiting the wireless internet router business, making AirPort routers such as AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule only available until supplies last.

Though the giant company will discontinue the production of the Wi-Fi routers, models that are still available in stores, their website, and authorized resellers can still be acquired.

As reported by Techspot.com, Apple is still set to provide support in hardware and software despite exiting its router business and will be posting articles to guide customers regarding the AirPort discontinuation.

Apple did not provide a specific reason for coming up with the decision but is not closing its doors to returning to Wi-Fi business if it could have a relevant contribution to the industry.

Apple debuted its AirPort routers introduced by Steve Jobs back in 1999.
