Apple is launching a reality TV show called ‘Planet of the Apps’

Apple is set to release its first original TV series titled “Planet of the Apps.”

The show, which was co-produced by Apple and Propagate, will feature some of the world’s most skilled app developers battling for high-quality mentorship, top-tier VC funding, and free marketing in the App Store.

“Planet of the Apps will give app creators the chance to break through and share their ideas with the world. This is an exciting format that taps into what is driving culture today. We can’t wait to see the groundbreaking ideas accepted for the show grow into viable businesses,” said Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, Co-CEOs of Propagate.

For those who are interested, an open casting call has already been launched asking for 100 app creators, with the show’s organizers requesting that would-be participants send in information about their prospective app as well as a one-minute video profile of themselves and their team.

Open casting calls will be held in partnership with Product Hunt in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and New York over the coming months.

It is not clear when the show will air, but the casting call requests that contestants have a functioning app in beta by October 21st. Filming is expected to begin later this year in Los Angeles and run through early 2017.

Interested contestants only have until August 26 to apply.
