Globe Telecom won five major citations in the prestigious 14th Annual International Business Awards (IBA) or widely known as the Stevie Awards which honor achievements and positive contributions of organizations and individuals worldwide.
The awards are as follows: Gold – Globe 1st World Internet PH, Communication or PR Campaign of the Year-Issues Management; Silver – 7 Ways to Create Wonderful Experiences, Best Annual Report-Print; Silver -Globe Telecom, Telecommunications-Large; Bronze – Globe Transformation and Triumph under Ernest Cu- Executive, Telecommunications; and Bronze -Enterprise Innovation Forum, Brand Experience of the Year- Business-to-Business.
“The awards given to Globe are testament to the continuous efforts that our company have exerted to improve customer experience. This recognition inspires us to do excellent work in every aspect of the business,” Globe President & CEO Ernest Cu said.
The company’s 1St World Internet PH campaign stemmed from mounting customer demand for faster internet. In the Philippines, infrastructure development is greatly delayed by “red tape” on the local government level which majority of the citizens are unaware of. To address the problem, Globe came out with a campaign to make the issue public and encourage LGUs to support internet infrastructure rollout as proof of vision and leadership. Also part of the strategy was to appeal to the people’s collective desire for national progress.
Meanwhile, the silver citation for Globe Telecom in the Telecommunications-Large category is hinged on the company’s achievement in recent years under Cu’s leadership, which also earned him a bronze Stevie award.
Officially appointed as President & CEO of Globe in April 2009, Cu has been passionately driving a sweeping transformation across the company, including modernizing its network and IT infrastructure, creating a collaborative and service-oriented culture, and product innovations in mobile business. Under his visionary leadership, Globe has outperformed industry growth, with the company breaking records across all key product groups, brands, and market segments, thereby making the Globe brand a purveyor of the Filipino digital lifestyle.
The company is now recognized as the number one mobile brand in the country and has also gained market share for the last half a decade despite intense competition from a well-entrenched incumbent.
On the other hand, the Globe 2016 Annual & Sustainability Report, which earned a Silver citation, talked about the company’s milestones and strategies in achieving its purpose to create positive and sustainable impact to society. The report highlighted the different ways Globe pushed the limits in delivering digital lifestyle experiences that created value for its customers. It is also aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard framework.
Lastly, the company’s Enterprise Innovation Forum, which earned a bronze citation, is an annual gathering of the country’s top business and enterprise leaders for a day of insightful learning, discussion, and sharing of best practices on how innovation and disruption can help sustain a corporation’s competitiveness and relevance in the digital age. In last year’s EIF event, the forum attempted to instill one important thing – Purpose. Asking businesses the why question: Why are you in business?
