Instagram rolls out video chat feature and custom AR filters

After introducing IGTV for sharing longer videos, Instagram is rolling out new features such as video chat and custom AR filters on Android and iOS.

In a report by techspot.com, Instagram will now let friends connect with each other via video call by simply tapping the new camera icon that can be found in a Direct message thread.

The video chat can be participated by up to four persons as long as users have an active Direct thread (mutual interaction from both sides) to initiate video chat.

The video conversation can also be minimized in order for users to multitask within the app.

The Explore section has also been redesigned with posts that are now organized into topic channels, making it easier for users to discover content.

There will also be a new batch of camera effects designed by celebrities and brads such as Ariana Grande, Liza Koshy, Baby Ariel and the NBA which will be added to users’ Instagram filters by following any of the associated accounts.
