Microsoft confirms smaller download size for next Windows 10 updates

Microsoft has revealed that the next Windows 10 updates would be smaller in download size as customers seek for more seamless upgrades.

In a Microsoft blog post, Windows program manager Bill Karagounis announced a new delivery technology called Unified Update Platform (UUP), which will allow reduction of download sizes for Windows 10 updates by approximately 35 percent.

Karagounis explained that the UUP uses differential download technology. This technology contains only the changes that have been made since the last time a device was updated.

The UUP will be used in all devices running on Windows 10, including smartphones and tablets.

Microsoft plans to launch the UUP after the release of Windows 10 Creators Update.
