Netflix issued a warning to people not to take the ‘Bird Box’ challenge. ‘Bird Box’ is a new Netflix movie offering starring Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich.
From its official website, the movie was described as follows: “Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a survivor and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.”
The characters needed to shield themselves from the unseen presence by covering their eyes for their escape.
According to Netflix, more than 45 million accounts watched the horror film in the first week of its release and this gave birth to a game called ‘Bird Box’ challenge. People are blindfolding themselves while trying to finish some tasks or finding things.
On Twitter, Netflix issued the following warning:
“Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”
