The efforts of more and more companies to go digital continue to fuel the strong growth of the corporate data and digital businesses of PLDT and its subsidiary ePLDT.
In the first quarter of 2018, ICT revenues of PLDT Enterprise grew 15%, providing a boost to Corporate Data and ICT service revenues to P5.59 billion – accounting for over three-fourths of total market growth.
Contributing to the robust growth in ICT were Data Center revenues which increased by 14%, Managed IT services up 23%, and Cloud Infra and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) which jumped 51%.
Overall, data, broadband and digital platforms continue to power PLDT’s revenue growth increasing by 13% to P18.3 billion at the end of March 2018, accounting for 50% of total service revenues in the first quarter of 2018, up from 45% a year ago.
“We continue to grow in the right places – specifically data and digital services. We are setting the pace for industries and are building on our lead,” said SVP and Head of PLDT & SMART Enterprise Business Groups Jovy Hernandez.
“Growth in this vital space is being powered by the growing efforts of companies to go digital. And it’s not just large companies. Small and medium scale companies are also making the shift. That’s why more companies are signing up for services like Cloud and managed services. We are keen on upholding PLDT’s position as the preferred digital partner for enterprises by building up our digital infrastructure and enhancing our expertise to help clients execute their digital pivot,” he added.
Further strengthening its digital services, PLDT recently opened its second VITRO Data Center in Cebu, the 10th for the PLDT Group, raising its total capacity to over 9,000 racks.
The latest VITRO Data Center in Cebu strengthens the initiatives of PLDT Enterprise to provide the data center, colocation, and disaster recovery requirements of data-intensive industries such as Banking and Finance, BPOs, Retail, and SMEs.
PLDT, through ePLDT, has more than doubled its portfolio of services from Disaster Recovery, Managed Server Hosting, Colocation, and Connectivity Services, further delivering the needs of enterprises for robust server storage and cyber-secured managed ICT services.
PLDT’s network of VITRO Data Centers is part of the massive 5-year P260 billion network modernization program that the group is rolling out until 2020 to boost the fixed and wireless networks of PLDT and Smart in the entire archipelago. The build out of these facilities are all in support of the increasing connectivity and data-dependent services critical to the operations of enterprises as well as the digital lifestyle of all consumers.
Partnerships with government agencies have also been a strategic engagement for the group, including participation in the DICT’s Cybersecurity Conference as well as providing free internet access services to the public with the recent Smart Wifi launches including the LRT 1 among others.
Earlier this year, PLDT launched a partnership with Go Negosyo to educate and equip local merchants across the country to register in a digital marketplace and participate in e-commerce. On the other hand, PLDT also formally started this year’s search for exemplary entrepreneurs who are purveyors of innovations for success with the new Bossing Awards.
“As PLDT celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, the PLDT Group remains the trusted partner among enterprises for innovation, particularly fast-tracking our infrastructure roll out to support and further grow industries’ data and ICT needs,” said PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and ePLDT President and CEO Eric R. Alberto.
“Our data center facilities are major investments for the PLDT Group that have solidified our commitment to support advancements for future growth of digital services,” he added.
