Americans have reportedly spent $43.4 billion on video games last 2018 as the industry earned the said record-setting amount, climbing to 18 per cent from the previous year according to data.
In a report by tribune.com.pk, Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and market tracker NPD Group released the figures with cowboy western-themed action video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” as the top-selling title.
Also in the list is the “Back Ops 4” which is the latest installment in the “Call of Duty” franchise.
“Whether it was playing on the go on a mobile device or at home on a PC or console, consumers of all ages and interests found compelling content that delighted in 2018,” NPD video games analyst Mat Piscatella said.
Meanwhile, acting ESA president and chief executive Stanley Pierre-Louis said that interactive entertainment is the “most influential form of entertainment in America” today.
“The impressive economic growth of the industry announced today parallels the growth of the industry in mainstream American culture,” he said.
