Walmart plans to introduce budget-friendly tablet

Walmart Inc., the world’s largest retailer, is reportedly working on a budget-friendly and kid-friendly tablet as part of a redesign of its electronics department.

In a report by Bloomberg, the tablet will be made by a Chinese supplier and is expected to run on Google’s Android operating system based on photos found on a wireless product applications database filed with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.

Walmart spokeswoman Tara House, a confirmed that the company is working on the said product but did not reveal details, including the price and the date it will be rolled out.

According to the report, Walmart’s cheaper tablet could help lift the tablet market which has been declining for several years.

The tablet will be under Walmart’s ONN store brand which mainly sells accessories such as headphones, charging cables and television soundbars.
