Bumper ads, as they are being called, are so short that you won’t be able to skip them, unlike some pre-roll advertisements that can be skipped. They are scheduled to arrive in May.
According to an article by Techspot, these Bumper ads are little haikus of video ads or short snippets of longer videos that gets straight to the point. It is said to be ideal for driving incremental reach and frequency and will be sold through Google’s AdWords auction on a CPM basis.
Google says that both Atlantic Records and Audi Germany have tested the formal early on with impressive results. A way around Bumper Ads is YouTube Red, the subscription service that offers ad-free videos and other advantages for only $9.99 per month.
