Globe Telecom is looking at its mobile data business as key growth driver in 2015 after forging partnerships with global content providers in 2014, enabling customers access to premium content on their devices.
As the preferred mobile internet service provider in the country with various international partners, Globe spearheaded the shift from unlimited time-based data plans to volume-based consumable plans with free access to premium content, giving customers more value for their money and instant access to their interests and lifestyles – whether music, sports, literature, or entertainment.
With a GoSURF subscription, customers can enjoy exclusive access to music streaming service Spotify, which offers a library of over 30 million songs and hosts thousands of playlists from international and local music artists.
Towards the end of last year, Globe unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with the National Basketball Association to offer customers access to the NBA League Pass, allowing them to watch NBA games live and on-demand through multiple devices with a GoSURF data plan.
Aside from sports, Globe also launched partnerships with premium content providers such as WattPad to give users access to books, stories and other pieces of literature as well as with leading local and international TV channels for its one-stop shop virtual video store Piso Mall that enables Globe and TM customers to watch videos on their mobile phones for as low as P1.
As Globe SVP for Consumer Mobile Marketing Issa Cabreira shares, “Globe has shown great success in partnering with key global players such as Google, Viber, Facebook, and recently, Spotify and the NBA, as we continue to boost our mobile data business and provide our customers the best content offers and experiences.”
Sustaining momentum into 2015 with a stronger focus on its mobile data and content businesses, Globe is keen on pursuing more partnerships with both local and international brands to bring topnotch content across all devices anytime, anywhere. Recently, Globe ventured into the realm of entertainment with another exclusive partnership with local movie production giant Viva Communications to enable access to thousands of movies, clips, music videos, and live concerts and events on mobile via Piso Mall.
“This year, we are excited to up the ante as we provide our customers more variety content from new partners to further enrich the digital entertainment lifestyle,” adds Cabreira.
On back of its aggressive mobile data business, the leading telecommunications completed the roll-out of its 4G HSPA+ network nationwide, allowing faster and more seamless browsing for its customers.
