Google’s newly unveiled gaming platform Stadia, apart from using the cloud to play games, also features ‘Style Transfer ML’, a machine-learning based tool which lets developers transform images into artistic game environments.
In a report by Engadget, the Style Transfer feature could let developers apply art styles to the game in real time and could turn a drab landscape into a colorful display, such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night which they can resemble in the gaming realm.
The process starts with a gray box world and developers could take any image they want from hundreds of art styles. The model then incorporates it within the game environment in real time.
