Apple Inc. is reportedly planning to release a more stand-alone version of the their smartwatch – a watch that can do a lot of tasks independently without the need of having a phone nearby. Tasks such as making calls, downloading music or apps.
In a report by Bloomberg, the new Apple Watch will be come with LTE chips and be able to perform many tasks without needing an iPhone to be in range.
Making the Apple Watch more of a standalone device may boost sales of the product. “It would be a game changer,” said Gene Munster, co-founder of Loup Ventures and a long-time Apple analyst.
