First off, the Guided Tutorial has 62 quick exercises, which is enough to teach you how to perform everything from simple punches to dangerous moves. Some of the tutorials also cover the significantly changed mechanics, so its a really good idea to go through it.
Much to our delight, UFC 3 has addressed the mechanics of submissions. Two icons representing the fighters move around the perimeter of an octagon-shaped graphic, and depending on whether you’re attacking or defending, you either chase or try to stay away from your opponent’s icon. This system makes it easier for you to monitor your opponent’s move, but somehow takes your eyes off the real struggle of the actual fighters.
Another cool improvement with the game is the all-new interaction that you now have with your trainer. Not only can you hear him yelling useful advice while you’re fighting, but he even offers feedback on your positives and negatives during the fight.
Just like the best MMA fighters, UFC Undisputed 3 is very well-rounded and impressive in a lot of different areas. It took a big leap of improvement from its predecessors at every aspect, and is undoubtedly the undisputed champion of MMA video games.
