Darksiders II

At first it was War, then Death. Darksiders II turns from its previous protagonist War, to Death himself, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

The game take place within the Underworld, as opposed to Earth. For those who’ve played the prequel, several familiar characters will appear: such as Samael, Uriel, and Vulgrim, along with a large amount of brand new characters. As the storyline goes, after War is convicted and sent to purgatory for 100 years before being sent back to Earth by The Charred Council, they inform the other three Horseman of his fate. After hearing of his brothers fate, Death believes that his brother has been setup and is a victim of a conspiracy. Death knows that War is the most honorable and incorruptible of the group and would have not started the Apocalypse early. Death then sets out on an adventure to prove his brother’s innocence.

Like in traditional action game style, you slash away at clawed creatures with primary and secondary weapons. You run along walls and jump across beams, and most importantly, your enemies drop coins, armor, and weapons. You can get equipment, sell it to a merchant, or sacrifice it to level up rare possessed weapons, which you can customize at certain limits.

You will encounter dungeons and each dungeon requires that you figure out how to get from one point to the next. At first, this involves scaling walls, then, you get a phantom grapple hook that allows you to swing from glowing hooks and extend your wall runs. Later, you split yourself in three, petrifying your main form and using two doppelgangers to stand on switches and move platforms.

A lot more features are in store for fans and newbies alike. A great sequel all in all for a great game.
